Behind every tree in every country there has to be a shy marketer wannabe with a huge desire to make money on the Internet but no idea of how to do that, or what they want to do. Most have swallowed the constant marketing hype that keeps circling the Web: "You can make thousands of dollars every day with no work at all.

Think about that grand hype of a statement for a moment. The plain truth is that business is business, regardless of the method you use to do it. You can have a retail store or service bureau online or offline. You can sell anything you want to sell either way if you can find a market for your products or services.

Most newcomers to Internet Marketing fail without making much money, if any at all, because they forgot or didn't even know the very basic, critical requirements behind every business. You have to have a plan! Several plans, in fact.

No businessman since the beginning of time ever just found an empty stall or storefront and opened up a business two hours later.

There are four specific steps you need to complete if you ever want to try living the Internet marketing myth and having just a slim chance of making a living online.

#1...Choose your product. Specifically, WHAT do you want to sell? Physical products on eBay or virtual products, like ebooks? This first choice is very important to your future success. For example, your product has to have a hungry audience just waiting for its arrival before they will dig out their wallets.

That's your market.

#3...Select WHERE you are going to get your products. You can buy virtual products, ebooks, ecourses, software or scripts with rights that allow you to resell them and keep the profits. You can also buy products that come with Private Label Rights, PLR, that you can claim as your own or redo to suit your market.

You can create your own products and keep all the profits for yourself. Many a marketer has made a good living doing just that. They either write their own products or hire a ghostwriter or freelancer to do it for them.

Some have claimed fortunes by becoming affiliates for popular marketing "gurus" or trendy offline businesses like the current crop of coffee producers, wine vendors or holiday gift boxes of steaks.

#4...Decide HOW you are going to market and sell your products.

You can sell them through an online website that you either create yourself or outsource. This process will include the sales letter (website), an opt-in page so you can collect email addresses and permission to market to them, and autoresponder service to send your messages automatically to your opt-ins. This is where you will begin spending a little money. You will need some start-up capital, so you can forget about doing it for free.

Maybe you've heard of the expression, swipe file, or
maybe you haven't. If you're serious about selling on
the Internet, you should not only become familiar with
this term but use it to your advantage.

A "swipe" is a term used for swiping an excellent
example of writing from someone else. It can be from
their website, blog post, sales copy, or forum comments.
To you, it is a perfect use of words and if it
resonates with you, it probably resonates with others
too. A "swipe file" is your ongoing list of writing
that you've collected.

The benefit of swiping files is to help you write your
own sales copy, headline or squeeze page, etc. You
swipe them to help you learn and give you ideas of how
to do your own; you DO NOT copy them verbatim onto your
own sales page. This will get you in trouble in so many
ways. Not only is this plagiarism, but you're also
ruining your credibility and reputation.

Here are some swipe files you can set up:

Headlines

Headlines from all sorts of sales copy that grab your
attention. This swipe file will demonstrate the
stringing together of some magical headline wording, as

Do you continuously send out emails and it feels like no one is home? Sometimes it seems like you're talking at a brick wall because you get no responses. This never looks good. It means you're too busy to test or you're not sure what you're doing. Always test your emails and send them to yourself first. Check them with an eagle eye and catch errors like the above plus an blatant grammatical errors. Be a professional email marketer.

2. Free, eliminate debt, offer, bonus, discount, won, deal, money, sign up now, guaranteed, work from home...
These are considered spam words or phrases and will likely get your email rerouted to the subscriber's spam trap by their email provider. Get a list of current spam words with a quick Internet search. Be creative and find other words to say what you want to say that aren't considered spam.

Your email subject line has to be believable. With so many emails to open every day, this sort of subject line will help people decide they definitely don't want to open your email. 5. Make every single email a product promotion.

While getting traffic to your website is very important, it's not going to mean much if they visit you once and never return. To keep them interested in you and your products, you need to bring them into your fold. In other words, you want them on your list. That way you can give them helpful information, establish a relationship of trust, and market your outstanding products to them.

Have an opt-in box in the top fold of your website. That means those who come to your site will see the box without having to scroll down. You have a better chance of catching them this way, since people often only spend seconds to a few minutes on a website and don't want to bother with scrolling down.

You might have an opt-in box, but what is it for? It should be there to offer something free, irresistible, and valuable to your target market in exchange for their email address. People are savvy on the Internet these days so you have to bring your "A" game. You want to give value so people think, "Wow, this guy knows his stuff. I'm going to stick with him and see what else he knows." The offer should be irresistible in that you know something they might not and this could help them out. These are hungry people, targeted people, people who just might buy from you.

Another way to grow your list is to offer a free product in a giveaway event. The premise here is to offer something of value and if people perusing the giveaway event like the look of your product and your squeeze page, they will opt-in to get said product. Now, these opt-ins are not necessarily going to stay on your list. They might opt in for the free gift and opt right out again. At first you feel rejected by these freebie seekers, but it's best they get off your list right away or they'll be the ones calling "spam" on any email you send them in the future.

It is true that people who join your list for the freebie in the giveaway are probably not targeted customers, but some will be. It's a numbers game; 700 people grabbing your product at a giveaway and 300 of them opting out the next month leaves you with 400 targeted potential customers. And that's 400 people on your list you didn't previously have, right?

get your ideas and products in front of a lot of eyeballs.
Most (if not all) of these places allow you to create a "profile"
that people will see. Inside that profile, you can (carefully)

products.

I would suggest that you interact with the networks and gently
push your traffic to your main sites/products. Otherwise, you will
get a reputation as a spammer and your profile deleted. So, be careful!
