Domains

If your going to have a website you need a good domain name. You want to give your domain name a bit of thought, because you want the customer to be able to relate the name to the products or services they are looking for but you also want a name that you can rank on Google for your particular niche.

If you expect to get customers online then you need to be found online. So a basic step would be to use a good keyword tool like Google keyword planner.  You used to be able to freely use the tool and technically you can but now you have to use a adwords account, which you can get if you do not have one using the link above to register.

It’s pretty painless and you can then use the tool so sign up. You can check the popularity of a keyword by how many people are searching for that keyword or keyword phrase. You can also check the adwords competition, which will give you an idea of what your dealing with, in terms of the competition out there.

I also like to do a search myself to get an idea of who is on the first page of the search because if you offer health products and the first search page results are full of sites like WebMD, Wikipedia and government sites like the CDC. They have been doing this for a long time, it’s not impossible to push them off the page but I only say that because nothing is impossible but this would be pretty darn near impossible so I would change my keyword.  Go for a long-tailed keyword. They are usually quicker to rank anyhow.

There are plenty of keyword tools that have a lot more features and vary in options and ease of use that cost and can often be worth the investment because they offer more information in one place, easy access is nice and it saves time but this is not something that you have to do at first because much of the pertinent information they offer can be found using individual tools as well. We will go over more of these in a different post. Once you find the keyword/phrase you like, you can purchase it through companies like Godaddy. your next step will be to find a good hosting service. That is the topic of my next blog.

Learning online

Back to school 02There is an abundance of online training available today. You just need to do a quick web search to see options available for blogging, creating traffic, SEO, content writing, choosing your product or niche,  selling and social networking. It’s to the point where  it’s almost too much.

You have the support of the coaches, Ann herself and a community of people just like you that help you understand the what, the how and the why.
